We Avoid Single-Use Plastics
We use service ware wherever possible
If disposables are required to comply with licensing or to meet a client request, they will be biodegradable, but our preference is not to use it in the first place
Our bottled drinks are bought in glass which can be recycled and you’ll only find paper straws in our bar
Still and sparkling water for all our conferences, meetings and events is supplied in refillable bottles, filtered through an onsite carbon purification system.
Reducing Consumption and Using Cleaner Alternatives
Both Aspects and the Remembrance Centre have a B-rated EPC
Solar panels on the roof of the Remembrance Centre reduce energy consumption by up to 40%
Energy and water usage is monitored by our Estates team with recommendations for improvement filtered through our team
Onsite golf buggies use electricity instead of diesel, one passenger Land Train runs on electricity, and many grounds machines now operate on electric rather than fossil fuels
Electricity and gas supply incorporates green tariff elements
All toilets on site are low-water flush
Rainwater harvesting in summer, waters trees onsite.
Reducing Distribution Miles and Support our Local Economy
All our suppliers of food and beverage are located within a 40-mile radius of the National Remembrance Gardens, from artisan ice-cream from Bluebells Dairy to elegant wines sourced from Halfpenny Wine Estate in the Severn Trent Valley
Our event services provided by third-party providers are selected from the region, including sourcing our crockery, promotional items, furniture hire, AV hire and signage
We source responsibly, specifying the use of FSC or PEFC certified stock for our brochures, leaflets and visitor guides.
Responsible Land Management
In 2026 we were awarded our sixth Green Flag Award, demonstrating outstanding standards of environmental management and horticulture
In addition to 20,000 trees, we are home to two National Plant Collections; Hamamelis (Witch Hazel) and Amelanchier
We create habitats for wildlife, including our wildlife meadow and beehives
We re-use felled trees to make pathways, dress gardens and mulch beds to prevent water loss.
Caring about waste
Waste is pre-sorted prior to removal and is processed through a zero-waste-to-landfill company with traceability
Coffee grounds are removed from our waste and used within the outdoor landscape
Day delegate menus are prepared daily and are chef’s choice, allowing us to use what’s in season, what’s suitable for the weather and what’s in our fridges
We find as many ways as possible to re-use and reduce, from making our own breadcrumbs to use up stale bread, to creating ricotta from excesses of milk.
