Terms and conditions of entry

In exceptional circumstances and to operate safely, we reserve the right to refuse admission and/or to limit visitor numbers as appropriate.

We want everyone to enjoy their visit to the National Remembrance Gardens. Therefore, anyone engaging in anti-social, threatening, abusive or disruptive behaviour, including the display of potentially offensive apparel, may be asked to leave the premises. Serious or persistent incidents may be reported to the appropriate authorities

We have two play areas for our younger visitors, and we encourage everyone to enjoy our grounds. However, to ensure safety  and enjoyment to all our visitors, ball games, Frisbee®, or similar activities are not allowed within the Gardens or car parks.

A bicycle rack is located in the car park and we do not allow bicycles, including children's balance bikes, or electric bicycles within the Gardens.

For the safety and comfort of all our visitors the use of all motorised (petrol and electric) and non-motorised bikes, including quad bikes, monkey bikes, mini motor bikes, go-peds, skateboards, children’s scooters and roller skates/ blades are not allowed within the Gardens. Mobility scooters are excluded from this rule.

We operate a Challenge 25 policy on all alcohol sales. If you are fortunate enough to look like you are under 25 years old, please be prepared  to show proof of age when purchasing alcohol. We accept valid photographic driving licences, passports, cards bearing the PASS hologram, and military ID as proof of age.

Children remain the responsibility of their parent, guardian, or accompanying adult at all times. Any lost children should be reported immediately to a member of the team.

Any materials for display must be approved by the marketing team unless otherwise stated in your event contract.

We are pleased to welcome well-behaved dogs and their owners during the daytime. Please ensure your dog is kept on a short lead at all times, clear up promptly after your dog using the dog waste bins provided and manage your dog throughout your visit to be considerate of others. Dogs are not allowed in children’s play areas, on the Armed Forces Memorial and access to our indoor spaces is limited. Assistance dogs are allowed access throughout the site.

The flying of drones over any part of the Gardens is not allowed for safety reasons, regardless of whether they are operated from inside or outside the boundaries of the Gardens.

Campfires, stoves and barbecues are not allowed anywhere within the Gardens. 

Unless otherwise stated in your event contract, only fundraising for the Royal British Legion National Remembrance Gardens, registered charity no: 219279 (England and Wales), SC054446 (Scotland) is permissible on site; this includes collections, publicity materials and canvassing for donations.

We do not allow the discharging or firing of any firearm, missile or firework anywhere within the grounds.

No fishing rights exist on the banks of the rivers and fishing is not allowed on site.

The use of mobility scooters is permitted in the Gardens, the Remembrance Centre and Aspects. Visitors use these at their own risk and we ask for the utmost care to be  taken at all times to prevent injury to others or damage to buildings and memorials.

Life belts that meet BSI standards are situated along the riverbank at 50m intervals.

The sale of merchandise and services on site is only permitted with prior agreement, and will be subject to a commission fee.

The taking of images and film footage  (all methods) of memorials and structures for personal use is permitted on site. Commercial photography and footage are subject to negotiation and a location fee and must be arranged and authorised in advance. As our premises are open to the public, please ensure that you obtain permission before  taking photographs or filming any visitors who may appear in the images or recordings, including young people.

Swimming, wading and paddling in the rivers or waterways is not allowed.

Visitors are asked to be aware of other visitors’ right to a smoke/vape free experience.

Visitors are not allowed to take vehicles on site. Any contractor, deliveries or event vehicles must comply with the site safety regulations as specified in the site induction and seek specific  information on vehicle movement from either the visitor services, estates or events teams.

Please respect our neighbours when leaving the Gardens, especially following evening events.

The Royal British Legion National Remembrance Gardens reserves the right to photograph and film activities and events held on this site for use in, but not restricted to, printed marketing and  promotional materials, digital communication channels including websites and social media, presentations and exhibitions. By entering this site, you give permission for your likeness to be recorded through video and still photography.
