Begin your visit at the heart of the Remembrance Centre, in Landscapes of Life. This permanent exhibition introduces the concept of Remembrance and why it is an important human need spanning thousands of years.

Starting close to the Remembrance Centre, the Women’s Land Army and Timber Corps Memorial is dedicated to over 240,000 Land Girls and Lumber Jills who provided food and timber during the First and Second World War.

 

Continuing down the avenue, you will see the UK Police Memorial dedicated to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have given their lives to UK policing. The 12 metre high brass structure represents the threshold to dangerous places the police must go, but sadly, from which some will never return.

 

As you follow the river, you will come across The Women’s Institute Memorial Seat; WI Wall, designed and built by one of Derbyshire’s only registered female dry stonewaller’s Sally Hodgson.
