The Stick Man outdoor trail

Our Stick Man trail takes young visitors on an adventure through our acres of woodland, as they help Stick Man on his adventure back to the family tree.

Featuring carvings inspired by the story, as well as our ever-popular Stick Man sculpture to find along the way, there is plenty to spot along the mile-long route.

Wooden sculptures

There are five wooden sculptures to find along your journey back to the family tree, from a friendly squirrel, and cheeky seagull, to the swan that uses Stick Man to build a nest.

At the end of your adventure, don't forget to snap a picture at the Stick Man picture frame to remind you of your special adventure.

We recommend that families wishing to try the Stick Man Outdoor Trail wear appropriate footwear and clothing. The route, while mostly on hardstanding pathways, does venture into our woodlands and so may be unsuitable for some pushchairs.

Please note that children's bikes, balance bikes, scooters and roller blades can not be used in the National Remembrance Gardens.

Are dogs allowed on the trail?

Dogs are permitted on the Stick Man trail on a short lead.

Only assistance dogs are allowed:

in the children’s play areas
on the Armed Forces Memorial, its surrounding pathway and grassed banks
on our land train or buggies

Access to our indoor space and restaurant is limited for those visiting with dogs.

How long is the trail?

The trail is about a mile long, starting at the Stick Man.

Is the trail suitable for pushchairs?

The route, while mostly on hardstanding pathways, does venture into our woodlands and so may be unsuitable for some pushchairs.

What clothing/footwear do I need to wear?

We recommend suitable outdoor clothing and footwear.

How much does it cost to do the trail?

The trail is free of charge, you can collect a trail sheet upon arrival at the Welcome Desk.

On what days is the trail available and how long is it on for?

The Stick Man trail is available every day, during our regular opening hours.

What ages is the trail suitable for?

The trail is suitable for children aged 3 years and up.

All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times during their visit to the Gardens.

Do I need to book for the trail?

You do not need to book for the trail; however we do recommend booking your parking online.
